One method uses microsort technology and was initially developed by Dr. Lawrence Johnson. It was further enhanced by him at the Genetics and IVF Institute. At the time of conception, the child’s sex is determined by either an X chromosome (female) or a Y chromosome (male). These chromosomes are identifiable and can be separated by a qualified technician using modern technology.
It has been scientifically proven that X chromosomes (female) are larger than Y chromosomes (male). These X chromosomes have more DNA in them. The patient’s age, the sperm quality and the type of clinical procedure used all play a part in a successful pregnancy. The risks involved using microsort technology are still being evaluated because this method of gender selection is relatively new and still in an FDA clinical trial.
