Choosing Your Baby's Gender: Natural Options To ConsiderWhen you conceive, you don’t have the luxury of choosing your baby’s gender. However, there are some ways that increase your chances of having the nursery painted a soothing shade of pink with ruffles everywhere or painting it navy blue with snakes, snails and puppy dog tails! Your pregnancy might be more desirable if you know that you are more likely to have a boy or a girl if you just follow some simple advice. One thing to think about is that it is theorized that male sperm swim faster than female sperm. Female sperm are slower but tend to live longer. Thus, having sex on the day you ovulate increases your chances for having a boy and having sex a few days before you ovulate means that you’re more likely to have a girl. Likewise, the missionary sexual position often results in a girl because the sperm is deposited further away from the cervix. Male sperm have a better chance of reaching their target when couples use rear entry positions during sex which actually gets the sperm closer to the cervix. Choosing your baby’s gender can be influenced during the sexual act itself. Male sperm seem to do better if they are deposited away from the acidic conditions present at the entrance of the vagina. They do better in more alkaline conditions which are present higher up in the vagina. Female sperm are better suited for the acid conditions at the vagina’s entrance which can be accommodated by using the missionary position during the sexual act. Another natural way to influence what sex your baby will be is to douche before having sex. Theory has it that douching with an alkaline solution before having sex will result in an internal environment more suitable for male sperm. An unproven theory states that avoiding sex for a period of time results in a buildup of male sperm. It’s a method that you can consider, but statistically the results don’t show any real chance of having a boy as opposed to having a girl baby. Finally, it is possible that foods rich in potassium (such as bananas) result in a greater chance of having a boy and foods rich in magnesium (such as spinach) might mean a girl is on the horizon. Additionally, underweight women seem to have boys more often and there are more boys born during times of famine. Following the above natural ways of choosing your baby’s gender might just work for you. It certainly won’t hurt you to at least try to take an active roll in getting what you want in the end – pink ribbons or snakes, snails and puppy dog tails! |
