Predicting Baby's Gender - Fun Ways To Do ItPredicting baby’s gender has always been something that some couples think about when they are expecting a new baby. A baby’s sex is determined at the time of conception and many couples don’t want to wait until the baby’s birth to know what they’re having. There are several baby gender prediction methods available. However, there is only one accurate and certain way of predicting a baby’s gender and that is through an invasive process known as amniocentesis. Amniocentesis is not used simply to predict a baby’s gender. There are some “fun” ways to predict it also! A few fun and amusing ways that are used today in predicting what sex a child will be are: • Chinese Gender Chart The original Chinese Gender Chart presumably was buried near Beijing over 700 years ago. The Chinese claim that by following this chart, a couple will be able to accurately predict their child’s sex with a 90% success rate. It requires just two pieces of information: The mother’s Chinese age at the time of conception and the Chinese Lunar month of conception. These two items are then cross-referenced on the Chinese Gender Chart and the sex of the baby is determined! Some people are convinced that they can play a role in predicting baby’s gender by the rate of the baby’s heartbeat. This theory states that a faster heart beat (over 140 beats per minute) means a girl and a slower rate of less than 140 beats per minute means a boy is on the way. The Drano Gender Prediction Test is not one that should be tried because it produces very toxic fumes and is highly dangerous. It has been around for years and some people still insist that it’s accurate. It’s not because it requires mixing toxic crystal Drano with a morning urine sample. The theory goes that if the mixture darkens within 10 seconds, it’s a girl. If there is no change in color, it’s a boy. Using the Needle/Wedding Ring Gender Prediction Test when predicting baby’s gender involves taking a needle or wedding ring, attaching it to a thread and then dangling it over the mother’s belly. A circular motion means that she’s having a girl; a back-and-forth motion means “blue” is in the future. Ultrasound technology is used extensively today to determine baby’s gender. The sex of the child can often be determined during a routine pregnancy ultrasound. The baby’s sex can usually be correctly determined after gestational age of 16 weeks. All of these techniques are fun to use when predicting baby’s gender. None of them are close to be 100% accurate but can make for an interesting attention-getter at a baby shower or at the family get-together before the big day arrives. |
